The scores are in, and two Northeast Arc service divisions passed their licensing and certification exams with flying colors.
NeArc scored 98 percent on licensing and 97 percent on certification in the assessment conducted in November by the Department of Developmental Services’ Office of Quality Enhancement. The agency was evaluated for its residential program, including Shared Living, as well as its employment and community-based day programs. The Remote Supports and Monitoring Services were also assessed. NeArc received the maximum certification of two years.
“The scores really reflect the quality of services we provide and the commitment of the staff,” said Kathy Marques, Quality Improvement Director.
DDS staff who conducted the biennial survey of NeArc programs did a thorough examination of documents, strategic plan, data sheets, records, staff training, medication delivery, as well as interviews with staff. As part of the certification, surveyors met with the people supported and the survey was conducted at the locations where services are provided.
There were 17 locations audited in residential services and home supports, six in employment and four in remote supports, a program that fosters independence by leveraging technology that can provide assistance when staff are not present.
According to the final report, “the survey revealed a robust system of quality management initiatives informed by data collection and analysis of systemic patterns and trends.”
There are approximately 360 individuals combined supported in the Community Employment Division, directed by Lisa Leo, and Residential Services Division, overseen by Fiona Noble.
“We’re lucky to have extremely dedicated management teams committed to the process,” Leo said.
