Changing Lives FundTM
The Changing Lives Fund™ at Northeast Arc was established by a generous donation of $1,000,000 by local business and philanthropic leader, Steven P. Rosenthal.
Steven founded West Shore LLC in 2016, a Boston-based real estate private equity firm, and serves as its Chairman. Prior to that, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Northland Investment Corporation and Co-Managing Partner at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo P.C.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of Redwood Investments LLC, and is a past Board Member or Trustee of a number of organizations, including the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the Harvard Alumni Association, the Ruderman Family Foundation, and Massachusetts Convention Center Authority.
“I wanted to do something different, innovative, even disruptive — in a positive sense,” Rosenthal says of his donation to Northeast Arc. “The idea was to find a way to literally change lives one at a time.”
What resulted is The Arc Tank, a competition based on the popular TV show Shark Tank, in which people present their ideas for creating positive disruption in the field of disability services for a chance to win funding for their project. The Arc Tank’s inception in 2017, it has awarded more than $850,000 to support creative and innovative ideas through the Changing Lives Fund™.
Arc Tank
The Arc Tank funds ideas that will help positively disrupt disability services to improve the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or autism and their families. Each year, the Arc Tank highlights out-of-the-box thinkers, people who can imagine possibilities, be creative, and who want to change the status quo. The Arc Tank has now awarded over $850,000 to proposals that promise to break down barriers for people with disabilities who are too often marginalized, not included as equal participants in everyday life, and prevented from taking advantage of opportunities.
Arc Tank has been about Partnerships since it was originally funded and created. The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation has served as our host at the Presidential Library and Museum.
