Life Skills

The Northeast Arc Life Skills Assessment Team provides innovative evaluations and educational tools that help people with disabilities prepare to live on their own and be more independent within the community.

Current specific assessment areas focus on Home Safety, Internet Safety, Community Safety and Health and Wellness. Each assessment tool has been extensively tested in multiple real life settings to ensure a comprehensive and realistic evaluation in each subject area. Each assessment incorporates a record review, an interview or a survey, and a skills demonstration. Assessments are tailored to the unique needs of the individual, with evaluation times varying according to the assessment area and the participant’s unique learning style and preferences.

Each Life Skills Specialist has extensive experience in community services and support networks, serving as educators for life skills to people with varied skill levels and diagnoses, including developmental and physical disabilities.

We assist people to move on to the next steps; from the classroom to the neighborhood, from the theoretical to the practical application of life skills. Our final reports are comprehensive and insightful, allowing individuals and families to make educated decisions and focus skills development and training on the issues that matter most.
